Colour of the year 2012 - Dulux Firecracker 4. This opens a new browser window

Last month I featured Pantone’s colour of the year Tangerine Tango and blogged about all things orange. This month it’s Dulux’s turn.  Their colour of the year is called Firecracker 4. A hue Dulux describe as a “blushing, lively juicy red”.

This colour carries on from Dulux 2011 colour of the year – what they describe as a “light, airy, citrus yellow“.  This year they have decided to turn up the heat with red.

Jeremy Rowe, managing director, decorative paints, South-East Asia & Pacific at AkzoNobel says “red is held in high regard around the world, especially in South-East Asia for its association with good fortune and festivity.”

To discover the positive and negative psychological qualities of the colour red read my blog post colour psychology … the meaning of red.

If you’re looking to purchase Firecracker 4, it’s product number is 10YR21436. Remember to buy a tester pot as colour will always render differently depending on the amount and type of light.
