Colour For Business And The Professions: Applying The Power Of Colour event

Karen Haller
Today is the last day of my 30 blogs in 30 days and for me there is no better way to end than on what was the colour event of the year.
Today at City University London, with a sell out audience, 10 colour experts spoke at the all-day colour symposium ‘Colour For Business And The Professions: Applying The Power Of Colour’.
(Day 30 into my 30 blogs in 30 days challenge!)
The day was organised by The Colour Group (GB) and Woodhead Publishing Ltd.
Never has there been such an array of colour speakers from professors, scientists, academics and specialists. As you can see from the event programme a wide range of subjects were covered from colour vision and perception, colour naming, fashion, dying, printing, trends and my subject, Colour in interior design.
The 10 speakers were asked to speak about their from the definitive colour book Colour design: Theories and applications published in June this year.
I was thrilled to be asked by the editor, Janet Best to speak about my chapter , Chapter 20: Colour in interiors which covers colour in residential and publicly accessed spaces. However for this talk I concentrated on the latter. And here I am about to start my talk.
I really wanted to impress upon the audience the important role colour has on our every day lives given we spend about 80% of our time indoors.
Interior designers and architects have an incredible social responsibility as they can often directly influence millions of people’s lives every single day by the colour choices they make.
We have a responsibility to get it right.
