colour & design surgery – the problem of muddy paws
This is part of the colour & design surgery series, answering questions from clients and readers.
Question: I really like neutral colours in my interiors but I have two dogs with muddy feet who have ruined my beige carpet. What can I do instead?

Answer: As you’ve already discovered neutral and light coloured carpet quickly shows up muddy paw prints. You’re not always going to be able to stop them from running inside before they clean their paws!
One way to protect your carpet is to put down rugs or runners that are machine washable which you can wash regularly. They’ll also protect your carpet from further ruin.

Runners are a great idea, and not costly either. I’ll have a hunt for a couple to put by the front and back doors.
Now just to work on the problem of my husbands boots… 😉
Glad to be of help Tamsin. You’re dogs are adorable!
