Colour Olympics is coming to town! I’m very excited because the AIC (International Colour Congress) is starting on Monday 8th July. Colour societies from all over the world will be coming together to, you guessed it, talk all things colour. As this takes place every four years you could say it’s the colour equivalent of the Olympics!

The AIC congress isn’t just for the colour societies. It provides a unique forum bringing together colour practitioners, researchers, academics, designers, lighting experts, and business leaders from all over the world with the aim of sharing ideas, interacting and learning about recent advances in their fields of expertise.

2013 Congress Theme – Bringing Colour to Life
The main theme of the 2013 Congress will be “Bringing Colour to Life”. This theme will be developed in several complementary directions. First, in the practical sense of colour production and reproduction; second in the sense of colour in nature, and third in the sense of the ways in which colour can be used sustainably now and in the future. This Congress will include sessions that explore sustainable uses of colour and the synergies between technology and nature.

Colour Group GB
The Colour Group GB are the principal organisers of this year’s congress. As a trustee, I will be at the Colour Group GB stand on Monday and Tuesday so do come and say hi.

About the AIC
The AIC Congress is held every four years. It is the only colour conference in the world that promotes all facets of colour. The first Congress was held in Stockholm, Sweden in 1969, and since then has been hosted at locations all over the world including Monaco, the USA, Germany and Japan. The last AIC Congress in 2009 was held in Sydney, Australia.

The objectives of the AIC are to encourage research in all aspects of colour, to disseminate the knowledge gained from this research and to promote its application in science, art, design and industry.

Location: The Sage Gateshead, Newcastle
Date: 8 – 12 July 2013

To book your ticket: Go to http://www.aic2013.org/registration. There are tickets available for the full week and for individual days. Check out the discounted student rates.

I’m really looking forward to meeting other colour practitioners and experts from another the world, hearing about the latest research and findings. And looking forward to meeting up with my Australian buddies from the Colour Society Australia.

Looking forward to seeing you there and don’t forget to pop by the Colour Group GB stand and say hi (I’ll be there on the Monday and Tuesday).
