Dulux Colour Futures 2013 trend colour sneak peak.

On Friday I headed off to what is becoming an annual event for me, listening to the engaging and interesting AkzoNobel colour expert, Per Nimer, discussing futures trends in colour.  It is at this talk where Per also announces the coming year’s trend colour.

I’ve heard Per speak on a number of occasions. I always come away having learnt a new insight, way of thinking about colour especially from a global perspective.

Dulux Colour Futures™  is the global colour trend predication for the coming year. The team spend a year gathering information, looking at variety of industries such as fashion, architecture, interiors, music, design and socio-economic.  They then translate this into colour palettes and colour moods.

So for 2013 the colour Dulux Colour Futures™ selected as their trend colour what they are calling…

Indigo Blue

AkzoNobel Colour Futures talk: from Janet Best (fashion colour management expert), Per Nimer (AkzoNobel colour expert) and me (colour psychology expert). To say we did a lot of colour talking is an understatement. ..

Interestingly, back in March this year, the Colour Group (GB), organised by Janet Best, held a seminar on Blue Alchemy, Stories of Indigo. Wonder if she saw this one coming …

You can find out more about the Dulux trend colour for 2011 and for 2012

      Hi Natalie,

The colour may not render well but the colour is in the image on the blog post. You can also type the code 90bb 09/186 into their website or pop down to the paint store and they should have the colour card.

Love to know what you think of it?

Hi Karen, The global signals of the growing interest and need for blue has been developing and growing stronger for some time. Too strong to ignore, in fact and I just had to highlight and discuss blue with industry. This led me to organise 3 industry symposia in the past 18 months all based on blue concluding with Blue Alchemy stories of Indigo the perfect and timely end to this trilogy.

Interesting change in language of young people. So my greeting is Blue skies.

Great round up Janet. And I had the pleasure of attending the event – Blue Alchemy stories of Indigo. Loved it. Interesting to see how Indigo Blue develops as a trend in 2013.
