WHO

This home is owned by a couple who work in very high-powered, high-pressured jobs. For them, being at work means action. They have jobs that require them to stand on their feet, make quick decisions and manage teams. For much of the week, they are consumed within their high paced environments, surrounded by lots of people and lots of noise.

WHAT

So when it comes to creating an atmosphere at home they first and foremost relax in. They need calm and comforting spaces full of restorative elements. A space to switch off but also to switch on to entertain guests. The coupled also wanted to have a home where they felt expressed as individuals and a couple. The brief here was to fuse together their individual personalities into the space so they both felt equally at home.

Collaborating with Karen and her unique colour and design psychology approach helps us to create spaces that are more deeply connected to the client or end user than ever before. Her innate ability to delve deep into our clients psyche unlocks their excitement for colour, giving them confidence and us time saving reasoning behind colour choices of hard finishes, fabrics and furnishings. Her work is proof of the physical effects colour has on our mindset, wellbeing, and how we interact with our spaces.

WHY

With this residential project, Boxx Creative wanted to deliver even more for their clients.

They wanted to go beyond interiors that just delivered aesthetically to utilising Applied Colour & Design Psychology to create interiors that really reflected the feelings and behaviours that the clients wanted in their own home.

They were on a very tight time frame and wanted to create a colour palette that would seamlessly bring everything together throughout the entire space and they wanted to get it right first time.

MY APPROACH

I interviewed the couple separately and did an analysis on their individual personalities which showed they were quite different.

Through my process using Applied Colour & Design Psychology I was able to find the common ground between their personalities and their desires for the home and fuse those together into a harmonious colour palette and design style that could be seamlessly used throughout the space.

When they saw the concept, they could immediately see it was a reflection of them. They said they had no idea what this was going to look like, but when they saw it, they knew this was them.
